Easy-Peasy Focaccia

There is nothing better than fresh-baked bread. My focaccia is famous and highly requested from friends, family, and anyone who has tried it! Focaccia is a great introduction to bread making as it is quite easy. This bread is rich in healthy fats and can be great to expand your family's creativity with the toppings!

Ingredients:

- 5 cups bread flour (King Arthur Flour is my personal favorite)

- 2 1/2 cups of warm water*

- 2 1/4 tsp of active dry yeast

- 2 tsp honey

- 1 Tbsp salt

- 4-5 Tbsp olive oil

- 2 cloves of garlic, minced

- 1/4 red onion, sliced

- 1/4 cup fresh parsley

- Salt and pepper

Steps:

- Heat water between 100-110F degrees, or until lukewarm. Add active dry yeast & honey. Let sit until it gets foamy at the top for around 10 minutes *the water has to be the right temp or the yeast will not activate

- In a large bowl mix flour and salt. Slowly pour the yeast mixture in, and combine until a shaggy and sticky dough forms seen in the video

- Transfer to a Dutch oven or another large pan filled with olive oil at the bottom. Put the top on or a piece of plastic wrap and let the first proof start. Any warm place will do, let this proof for around 4 or more hours

- Punch down the dough after the first proof, and prep the garlic, onion, parsley. Set aside. mold the dough into the shape of the pan it’s going to be baked in, and push your fingers into the dough so the olive oil comes to the top and seeps in. Put the top on for another proof. Proof for 1-2 additional hours

- Preheat oven to 425, and top your focaccia. Add additional olive oil for maximum crispy-ness. Bake for 25-30 minutes

Enjoy! Top with goat cheese and some jam, or turn into a fabulous sandwich!
